Here I have lots of Info and Tips for starting to ski, with specific headings so you don't have to search the whole page to find what you want. Advice for everything from first timers to people starting to slalom and even a little advice for beginner wakeboarders.

Choosing equipment
your skis should be the right size. starting on 2 skis, the skis should be roughly as tall as you are. the bindings should be able to close tightly on your feet, but not so thight that your foot can't come out in a fall. If you buy used skis, check it over thouroughly for defects that may affect its performance. After you have chosen the right skis for you, its time to look at rope, a vest, and possibly gloves.

your rope should be quite long at first so that you can shorten it as time goes on if you need to. once you start to go slalom, you will most likely want to buy a new rope. if you do so, make sure you look at slalom lines with different sections so that you can shorten it during competitions.

a vest is something that should be chosen carefully. it should come down to about your belly button, and possibly a little below if you buy a ski vest. check the weight specs to make sure you will get the most possible use out of your vest. make sure it won't ride up too much when you are sitting in the water. always buy a cest new, never used. you want one that you can trust, and know that it was well taken care of.

gloves should be tight if you want them. a lot of beginner skiiers frefer not to use them though. they should be small because they expand a bit in the water.
GETTING UP!
Gettin up for the first time is always fun, but many times it is difficult. it is best to start in the water, not off a dock. keep you knees right up in your chest, and hold the rope in by your knees. keep the tips of the skis pointed to the sky. make sure the rope is tight. as the boatstarts to pull you and it gets up to speed, try to stand up on the water while keeping the skis a little less than shoulder width apart. your back should be straight as you lean back and bend you knees and use them as shock absorbers.
